Private Bank of Decatur
There’s always something to do…
Mark your calendars for the Woodlands Garden Fall Plant Sale (select Sundays in September and October). If you have not visited this hidden gem, this is a great excuse. Learn from the experts what plants are perfect for your landscape. Plants available range in price and have been grown by volunteers, cultivated at Woodlands Garden, and donated by local nurseries. All proceeds fund the maintenance of this public garden. Bonus: It’s cooler this time of year under the Garden’s lush canopy! We’re proud that the bank’s Barry Marlin serves on Woodlands Garden of Decatur’s board, as Treasurer (natch). #CommunityBankersInTheCommunity
There’s always something great to see at our friend and client Signature Gallery. George Peterson and Christine Kosiba are featured starting Aug. 19.
The 2017 AJC Decatur Book Festival is Sept. 1-3, and we’re proud to again be a sponsor. (Did you know it is the largest independent book festival in the country?) This year’s Keynote is headlined by a panel of renowned journalists: National Public Radio host Brooke Gladstone; Carolyn Ryan, an editor with the New York Times; and Wesley Lowery, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter from The Washington Post. The trio will discuss the role of journalism in today’s ever changing political world – in particular the American political climate. 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1 at Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts (1700 N. Decatur Road). Tickets required. Film and television’s Henry Winkler is this year’s Kidnote speaker; with co-author Lin Oliver, Winkler wrote the “Hank Zipzer” and “Here’s Hank” book series for young readers. 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1 at Decatur High School’s Performing Arts Center (310 North McDonough Street). Tickets required. Check out the full slate of authors and events!
Mark your calendars (Sept. 9) and get your tickets – it’s time for Decatur’s Dinner Party in the Historic Decatur Cemetery, benefiting Global Growers Network. The bank’s Brent Adams is this year’s Honorary Host.
