Marvin Banks oversees a multifamily real estate investment platform valued in excess of $300 million oriented toward arbitrage opportunities creating outsized returns. He is well-known for his leadership skills, complex decision analysis and strategic planning abilities. Marvin previously served as Storage Post Self Storage’s COO, managing operations of the company’s network of self-storage facilities. He has more than 30 years of experience in real estate, including having served as the President and Chief Financial Officer of Cortland Partners, where he remains a corporate advisor. He spent over a decade in executive leadership positions for Gables Residential, where he was CFO, a member of Executive Committee and was instrumental in the IPO and the ultimate sale of the company to ING Clarion in 2005. He has also served Trammell Crow Residential and Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Marvin was a founding director of Private Bank of Buckhead. He is Chairman of the Board of the Children’s Museum of Atlanta and is on the board of the Georgia Council for International Visitors. He teaches graduate courses on REITs at Emory University, has been on the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin and taught for a number of years at Georgia State University in graduate and doctoral programs. Marvin is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting.
