In our 11th year, Private Bank of Buckhead continues its steady, planned growth and our focus on first-class service on a first-name basis. In December 2016, Private Bank of Buckhead celebrated its 10th anniversary, a milestone for which we thank our team, clients, friends and business partners. And with the new year – 2017 – comes a great new chapter: On January 1, the bank, including its Private Bank of Decatur and PrivatePlus Mortgage divisions, completed a merger with National Bank of Commerce. Our partnership with NBC enables us to do more of what we do well. So, particularly for our clients, everything will for the most part go along as usual – our brand, our service delivery and our people.

Our client service surveys confirm that clients bank with us because they know one of us or one of our other clients. Surveys often note our tailored service, technology and the white-glove approach of PrivatePlus Mortgage, which was relaunched and significantly expanded in 2014. It promises great pricing, processes, people and products, including purchase, refinance, investment, second home, construction, multiple collateral, fixed second, debt consolidation, home equity lines of credit (HELOC), raw land, and lot loan.
And Private Bank of Decatur is in its Fifth Year. Veteran banker Judy Turner led our Decatur location’s launch before retiring in May 2016 after an impressive 51-year career in banking. Private Bank of Decatur is now helmed by the bank’s Brent Adams who, in addition to serving as President of PBofD, has overall responsibility for leading bank-wide business development and community development. The Decatur location is a good excuse to note that, through technology and tailored service delivery, we bring banking to you – you don’t have to be in Buckhead or Decatur. We have clients from Cobb County to Carmel, California, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and across the Metro area. (PrivatePlus Mortgage originates mortgages in 50 states and the District of Columbia.)
Our Small Business Administration lending program makes SBA loans for a broad array of business purposes, including turn-key real estate purchases, ground-up construction, refinance, business acquisitions, and business start-ups.
Whether it’s checking, savings, the best online banking technology, business lending/commercial lending or mortgage loans, we believe ALL clients should benefit from the heightened level of service other banks reserve for a certain few. The history of Private Bank of Buckhead
After nearly 30 years in banking, Charlie Crawford learned that approximately two-thirds of people have banking relationships with large, big-box financial institutions and that they are either satisfied or unwilling to make a change. He knew that about a third of the population wants a relationship with a small, local bank, where they have a tailored personal relationship with their banker and mortgage lender.
In late 2005, Charlie was determined to bring the market what it wanted, and started the organization of Private Bank of Buckhead. He asked 11 other Organizing Directors, approximately 100 investors, and 8 employees to help deliver a new Atlanta bank to serve the needs of businesses and individuals that wanted their banking services delivered in a customized fashion.
Following 14 months of organization, Charlie and his team opened the Atlanta community bank they envisioned – Private Bank of Buckhead – on December 11, 2006. In October 2012 the bank expanded, adding Private Bank of Decatur to the family, and again in January 2014 when it relaunched a much-expanded and rebranded mortgage unit, PrivatePlus Mortgage.
Today, the bank remains focused on providing its employees with an entrepreneurial and rewarding environment, and its clients with access to highly experienced bankers and mortgage pros who are fanatical about the level of service they deliver and who have decision-making authority.
